J-pop

An abbreviation of "Japanese pop," it refers to Western-influenced Japanese popular music. The term is widely used in Japan to describe many different musical genres including pop, rock, dance, hip-hop, and soul. J-pop music is an integral part of Japanese popular culture. Past and current J-pop stars include Orange Range, Ketsumeishi, Mr. Children, B'z, Southern All Stars, Chage and Aska, Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru, Amuro Namie, Morning Musume, and SMAP.
