Kidnapping of Japanese citizens

In 2002, North Korea admitted to kidnapping 13 Japanese citizens during the 1970s and 1980s to train spies to infiltrate U.S. military installations in Japan. Five have been released, and North Korea claims that the remaining eight died before 2002. Japan has pressed for the return of the bodies. Many more Japanese citizens are believed to have been kidnapped and held captive in North Korea. The issue continues to generate diplomatic tension between Japan and North Korea. (from Wikipedia).
