Suzuki Tadashi

(1939- ). Theater producer. Founder and director of the Suzuki Company of Toga, chairman of the Japan Performing Arts Foundation, artistic director of the Shizuoka Performing Arts Center, and creator of the Suzuki Method of Actor Training. He organized Japan's first international theatre festival, the Toga Festival, from 1982 through 1999. His works include On the Dramatic Passions, The Trojan Women, Dionysus, Electra, and the opera Vision of Lear. Suzuki has introduced a wide range of the world's foremost theatre artists to Japanese audiences. (Copyright 2000 Shizuoka Performing Arts Center).
